Directions:

By Subway: Take the L train to New Lots Avenue. Walk 3 blocks to the left on New Lots Avenue, then turn left and proceed 3 blocks on Christopher Street.


Driving Directions:

From Queens: Take the Belt Parkway west, exit at North Conduit. Stay in left lane and bear left for Linden Boulevard after about 1/4 mile. Proceed on Linden Boulevard for approximately 2 miles. After Pennsylvania Avenue, get to the service lane all the way right. Go to “The rest of the way" below for further instructions.


From the Triboro Bridge: Take the Grand Central Parkway East to the Jackie Robinson Parkway. Continue to end of Parkway, turn left onto Pennsylvania Avenue. Proceed on Pennsylvania to Linden Boulevard (look for the Exxon and Mobile Stations on either corner). Turn right into service lane on Linden Boulevard. Proceed one mile on Linden Boulevard. Go to “The rest of the way...” below.


The Rest of the Way:
You will go under 2 trestles overhead and then you will see the BRC on the right. It is a brown brick building with a small parking area on Linden Boulevard. You will also notice ball fields on Linden Boulevard.


From Eastern Parkway: Take Eastern Parkway to Buffalo Avenue. Turn Right onto Buffalo—its name will change to Rockaway Parkway after approximately 3 blocks. Stay on Rockaway and proceed to Linden Boulevard (this is a big intersection with Brookdale Memorial Hospital on the left). Turn left onto Linden. On Linden Boulevard, the BRC will be on your left after the 2nd traffic light. You will notice a green parks flag and a small sign. The best approach is to pass the center, make your first available U-turn, and proceed in the service lane to park.


This is an Accessible Recreation Center.

Computer Classes (CRC)

Old Timers Week

     This is an annual eight-day event (reunion) of past and present community members and leaders. Each day offers a different theme that reflects past and present events.

Highlights include: the famous fish fry, Gospel show, Jazz Night, R&B concert, a parade, Body Building Show, youth talent show, and much more.

Event runs the last weekend in July.

Advanced Computer Classes

     This class teaches Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, Desktop Publishing, and PhotoShop. Youth are taught how to design a website, create and manage inventory for a computer-based business, and manipulate graphics.

Parks & Recreation’s Fall 2008 After School Learn to Swim program is free and offers classes for children ages 6-14 at nine pools across the city. 

Registration will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11 and 18 or from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14; Thursday, October 16; & Saturdays, October 11 & 18. 

Children will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Basketball (JHS League Tournament)

     

Community junior high school students participate in a structured league tournament. The main requirement is that students, as well as coaches, must arrive and leave in shirts and ties. At the end of the tournament, each team receives awards, such as Academic, Sportsman and Best Athletic, at an awards banquet.

The tournament runs from November through May.

Basketball Clinics

     Professional players (past and present) teach kids 4-10 year-olds the fundamentals of basketball. They also give lectures on the importance of education and the pitfalls of becoming a professional player.
