After School Swimming Lessons
Parks & Recreation's tradition of free swim instruction continues with this fall's season of After School Learn to Swim. Swimming lessons for children ages 6-14 will be offered at nine pools throughout the city. All classes will be held on weekdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Dates vary from pool to pool. The program is free, and, as space is limited, children will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Parks & Recreation’s Fall 2007 Learn to Swim Program is free and offers classes for toddlers ages 3-5, children aged 6-14, and adults of all ages. Space is limited for this free program and children will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis.
<-->Swim with the Best: Join a Parks Swim Team
The Parks swim-team training program trains swimmers and organizes teams for the annual Citywide Borough Cup Championship swimming competition. Youth between the ages of 6 and 18 who can swim 25 yards in reasonably good form will be able to participate. Locations and training times vary depending on the borough and pool.
Free Aquatics Instructions
Bethesda Aquatics, in partnership with Parks & Recreation's Citywide Aquatics Division, offers Aquatics instruction to children and adults of all ages at five Parks pool locations this July and August. Aquatics is a complete body workout and ranges from gentle walking in water to high-energy exercise.
Children's Learn to Swim
Learn to Swim is a free instructional program that runs at New York City’s public outdoor pools. The program teaches tots (ages 1 ˝ - 5) and children (ages 6 - 14) basic water safety and swimming skills. This summer, there are three three-week Learn-to-Swim sessions.
Adult Lap Swimming
The 26th annual outdoor adult lap swim program will give adults the chance to take to the water for health and fitness without interruption from other swimmers.
Senior Splash at Astoria Pool

11:00 am to 1:00 p.m.
Astoria Pool (19th Street and 23rd Drive Queens)
Sponsored by Parks & Recreation, Catholic Charities, and Queens Community Board #1, this program offers water exercise classes, swim instruction, water ballet, and special activities for senior citizens and mentally and physically challenged persons. The program is open to everyone over the age of 55, as well as those with physical and developmental disabilities.
