and Underhill Avenue in Brooklyn. Bids will
be opened and reviewed by Management Services
at the Olmsted Building in Flushing Meadows-Corona
Park in Flushing, Queens.
- The Director of Operations and Management
Planning (OMP)
visits Riverside
Park to assess potential hazards created
by tree growth through cobblestones. Riverside
Park is located at Riverside Drive between
West 135th and West 158th Streets in Manhattan.
- The Queens Borough Commissioner continues
visits to all parks containing wood play equipment
to identify the necessary modifications or
removals for management work teams. Russell
Sage Playground, located on Booth Street
between 68th Avenue and 68th Drive in Queens,
was reviewed yesterday for modifications and
removals.
- The Queens Deputy Chief of Operations monitors
borough crews as they use a front-end loader
to remove concrete debris dumped in Kissena
Park. The debris had been discovered during
an investigation into a recent fire at the
park, which is bounded by Fresh Meadows Lane,
College Point Boulevard, and Kissena Boulevard
in Queens.
- An Urban
Park Ranger in Queens reports he rescued
a healthy rooster in Forest Park. Forest
Park is bounded by Myrtle Avenue, Union
Turnpike and Park Lane in Queens. The rooster
was transported to the Boulevard Animal Clinic.
This week in Staten Island:
- Repainting continues at the Cromwell
Recreation Center. The Management &
Operations (M&O)/Recreation storehouses
prepare to move to the rear of the Cromwell
Center in order to provide space for a new
Nautilus Gym and Multi-Purpose Activity Room.
The Cromwell Recreation Center is located
at Pier 6 and Murray Hulbert Avenue.
- Leaf-removal continues borough-wide.
- Supervisors carefully check heat and oil
levels at all facilities.
- There will be a showing of Big Blue -
The NYC Handball Documentary tonight from
6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Donnell Public Library,
located at 20 West 53rd Street in Manhattan.
Parks volunteers and Recreation staff plan
and oversee the annual citywide Big Blue Handball
