  • The Commitment Meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 12 at 10 AM in the Olmsted Center's Design Conference Room. The Chief of Design will meet with Design Directors and other staff to review the status of all projects currently in Design. The Olmsted Center is located inside Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens.
  • Operations has prepared new Tips for Safe Vehicle Operation. The latest reminders address proper log loader and clam operations, correctly operating leaf vacuum trucks, driving within tight spaces, and accident procedures for the new Toyota Prius. Operations' training tips address common problems identified by the maintenance division. A full set of reminders can be accessed by Parks employees on the Parks Intranet site.
  • Queens has delivered clay to approximately half of its ballfields. The clay will be spread and fields will be groomed after all fields have received their allotment of clay.
  • Queens has begun adding fresh wood chips to Greenstreets sites throughout the borough.
  • e-Government launches new and revised pages for the Urban Park Rangers on the Parks web site at www.nyc.gov/parks . New features include Volunteers, The Natural Classroom, and Rangers in the Spotlight. Visit the 'About Parks' section of the web site to find out more about the Rangers.
  • Parks continues to offer free lifeguard training to interested candidates at these five convenient locations:

  • West 59th Street Recreation Center - 533 W. 59th Street and 10th Avenue, Manhattan
  • Metropolitan Pool - 261 Bedford Avenue at Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn
  • Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens - 21-12 30th Rd, Long Island City
  • Far Rockaway High School - 1848 Cornaga Avenue (at Beach 19th Street), Queens
  • Broadway YMCA in Staten Island - 651 Broadway
